Catch a falling star

Catch a Falling Star is a story that centers around a father preparing for the Columbia mission in 2003 and his young daughter, set against the backdrop of the real-life tragedy that claimed the lives of all seven astronauts aboard. On February 1st, 2003, the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry, marking one of the darkest moments in space exploration. But this film is more than just about that loss—it’s a tribute to the unbreakable bond between a parent and child. It’s about the weight of unspoken goodbyes, the fleeting moments we often overlook, and the hope that love transcends time and distance. Through shared memories, bedtime routines, and the simple comfort of a lullaby, the connection between a father and his daughter becomes something indestructible, something that even fate cannot erase. Working on this film has been one of the most emotionally challenging projects I’ve ever undertaken, particularly as a father. There were times when I had to step away because the emotions were just too intense. My wife and I often sing Catch a Falling Star to our daughter, Eleanor, and to ourselves when life feels overwhelmingly heavy. It’s a song that carries warmth, comfort, and hope—the very themes woven into this story. This film is for her. And for every parent who holds their child a little tighter, knowing that love is the one thing that never fades.
